NCD Alliance Global Forum – NCD Advocacy and Accountability in the Post-2015 Era

Project initiation

The NCD Alliance convened the first ever Global NCD Alliance Forum on 13th-15th November 2015 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Royal Patron of FoCP, International Ambassador of the World Cancer Declaration for Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and International Ambassador for Childhood Cancer for UICC, was the Forum’s Patron as part of her commitment to the fight against cancer and NCDs.

The Forum was organised in partnership with local host organisation, Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) and brought together representatives from the growing network of national and regional NCD alliances for the first time. With two days of plenary sessions, interactive workshops and networking sessions, the Forum provided a platform for civil society capacity building, knowledge exchange and sharing of good practice, and stimulating collaboration and new partnerships.

The Global NCD Alliance Forum convened over 200 NCD leaders, including representatives from national and regional NCD Alliances, international NGOs, multilateral organisations, governments, and the private sector.
